The Bellbird Biological Corridor was founded by seven conservation and education organizations in the Monteverde zone, one of which is the Fundación Conservacionista Costarricense. The other organizations include the Tropical Science Center, the Monteverde Conservation League, the Monteverde Institute, the Santa Elena Biological Reserve, and the University of Georgia and MINAET (the Costa Rican government's official branch for natural resource management). The seven organizations joined forces in 2009 to establish a biological corridor that will link the upper cloud forest to the coastal region while saving pre-existing forest and myriad of plants and animals.
